She works in Afghanistan, and she has seen how the regular folks submit to their evil fate. Still, they have a compassion for Bostonians who recently suffered a similar fate as theirs.

They said “I’m so sorry,” with that slow, defining head shake that doesn’t need another word of explanation; it says, “I understand.”

And they aren’t indifferent to pain just because they are living it.

[…] It doesn’t matter that we experience this more often here. No one should experience any of it ever. It’s always the innocent who suffer.”

To give out of poverty is a gift of true love. In this case, a true love for humanity.
